I want to help you have a better day at work. Whether you are looking for a new job, or just want to make more of your existing job this blog is you.
I am a career careerist! Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been working for the same company for 10 years now. But outside of work I have persisted in my quest for my passion, my raison d’etre. From just gaining a second masters degree, to a (very) short-lived stint as an Ann Summers party rep, I have been searching for ways to improve my day at work, to be the best person I can be. I still haven’t found my ideal job. It probably doesn’t exist. But in the meantime I have happened upon a rather ironic interest in the world of work itself, and through my Masters in Occupational Psychology, have discovered a keenness to make the workplace a better place.
So, I come to you armed with psychological research, an over developed sense of fairness and justice, and years of experience juggling the competing demands of work life and family life. I hope through this blog I can help you find self-confidence, self-knowledge and self-worth, and use them to not just survive at work, but thrive at work.
More about me…
I am a 30 something working mother of two young girls. I have worked for a large public sector organisation for the last 10 years and despite not always enjoying it I have been reluctant to leave the warm embrace of rules, bureaucracy and job security! I have a Master Degree in Occupational Psychology (psychology of the workplace), and as a result of my studies try to apply analysis and rigor to my opinions on workplace issues. I compensate for my unimaginative middle management career with varied interests such as eating cake, listening to The Archers, and crochet. Yes, I did say I was 30 something.
